Hanalei Colony Resort on Kauaʻi Reminds You to Unplug and Indulge in the Present Moment

There’s a reason you go on vacation — Hanalei Colony Resort makes sure to remind you to indulge in the present moment and relax.

Located just several miles past the incredibly charming town of Hanalei, it’s unlike any hotel or resort you have ever booked, and not just because it’s the only beachfront resort on the North Shore. Isn’t that what you’re in search of when visiting an island in the middle of the Pacific? Aren’t you craving an escape from your daily routine?

For your honeymoon, anniversary, a solo getaway, or family vacation, Hanalei Colony Resort has what it takes to suit everyone’s needs. Life here is lived at slower pace, away from the crowds. The grounds have a way of making you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time, especially since the resort is somewhat secluded and near the end of the road on Kuhio Highway.

This is where the real Hawaii begins. This place is magical. No television, no radio, no telephone (don’t worry, complimentary WiFi is available). There’s really nothing to distract you from immersing yourself in your surroundings. This place is a sanctuary, where you are surrounded by the constant ebb and flow of the tide. You wake up to its roaring embrace and fall asleep to it just the same. The sound of the crashing waves doesn’t let you go until you check out.

Are you a morning person? Wake up before the sun rises and enjoy a cup of coffee on your balcony, or on the shoreline, and watch the sky light up and the colors change. I promise watching the sunrise is worth waking up early for.

Perhaps during your stay you’ll encounter one of the property’s feline residents, who will most likely follow you back to your room and beg for some belly scratches. But don’t let the cats inside your condo. The resort advises that you simply say hello and leave them outside, as they are not “well-mannered house guests.”

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. I recommend booking an oceanfront room. If you happen to stay in condo F-3, even the shower comes with a stunning view of the horizon. Let’s put it this way: After checking in, you’ll wish you booked a longer stay.

Na Pali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop

The perfect stop for your morning cup of coffee, whether you like it black or with a special twist. It’s also a great place to visit for local, handmade art and jewelry.

Hanalei Day Spa

If you really need to unwind after exploring the island, visiting the spa is a great idea. Who doesn’t enjoy a deep tissue massage before going out for the best Mai Tai’s on the island? How about a facial and body wrap after soaking up the Hawaiian sun all afternoon? You can go here to view all of the spa’s available services.

Mediterranean Gourmet Restaurant

Chef and owner Imad Beydoun’s Middle Eastern dishes are delectable. He definitely knows how to give each item on the menu an island twist. Restaurant is open Monday – Saturday, 11am to 9pm.

Shuttle Service

With Hanalei Colony Resort’s shuttle service, you don’t even need to rent a car while on staying on this side of the island. The complimentary three-passenger shuttle operates from morning until sunset, transporting guests to and from Hanalei Town and beautiful beaches.

During the evening, the shuttle offers a variety of options for you to enjoy a night out on the town, whether that be the Princeville Shopping Center, the St. Regis or Westin resorts, or even after having one too many Mai Tais at the Tahiti Nui bar and restaurant.

When you book a room at Hanalei Colony Resort, you’ll understand why I'll always recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

Mahalo to the Kauai Visitors Bureau and Hanalei Colony Resort for such an amazing experience!
